10 important things to know about APEC, Philippine hosting

10 important things to know about APEC, Philippine hosting
Chances are that you’ve heard or read about the Philippines being the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2015.
You probably already know that the meetings have been ongoing in the country since January and host venues included such places as Clark, Tagaytay, Laoag, Manila, Bacolod, Boracay, and Iloilo.
Cebuanos are especially aware that Cebu will be hosting some APEC 2015 meetings from August to October this year. But what is APEC and why host it? What’s in it for the Philippines in general and Cebu in particular?
Here are 10 important points about this premier gathering in the Asia-Pacific region and the APEC 2015 Philippine hosting.
HISTORY1. APEC History
Former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke first publicly broached the idea of establishing APEC during a speech in Seoul, South Korea on January 31, 1989, and 12 Asia-Pacific economies met and did just that 10 months later in Canberra, Australia.
OBJECTIVE2. APEC Objective
The main objective of APEC as an economic forum is to bring about sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.
In line with this mission, it advocates free and open trade among member economies unhindered by tariffs or duties and other barriers. APEC also champions the integration of economic policies, promotion of economic and technical cooperation, enhancement of human security, and facilitation of a favorable and business environment in Asia-Pacific.

Environmentally Friendly
According to a study conducted by the United Nations, The Philippines ranked 3rd as the most disaster prone country in the whole world. And in disaster situations such as super typhoons, earthquakes -- a steady supply of food, drinking water and sustainable light source is very essential. The importance of the product in terms of short term usability and as a long term household staple can be attributed to how easy and common the elements needed to power the lamps are. It also does not emit harmful gasses and leaves minimal carbon footprint making it very environmentally friendly.

Pinay scientist creates lamp that runs on saltwater | ABS-CBN News

MANILA – “To light up the rest of the Philippines sustainably” was the vision of Filipina scientist Aisa Mijeno when she made the Sustainable Alternative Lighting (SALt) lamp.
The SALt Lamp is an environment-friendly and sustainable alternative light source that runs on saltwater, making it suitable to those who live in coastal areas.
It can also function well in remote barrios. With just two table spoons of salt and one glass of tap water, this ecologically designed lamp can run for eight hours.
“It is made of tediously experimented and improved chemical compounds, catalysts, and metal alloys that when submerged in electrolytes will generate electricity,” Mijeno explained in an interview with ABS-CBN.
Because of its inspiring vision and ground-breaking innovation, the SALt lamp has received various awards and recognition from organizations in the Philippines, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea.

"Walang Trabaho"??!!

Oo, Bilang isang INA dimo ka ilangan ng Certificate, kahit naka pag tapos o hinde ka ng pag aaral but their ROLE/PART is very important!

Isa alang alang naten yung gina gawa ng INA o Asawa. Because their sacrifices are uncountable. This should be a reminder and reflection for all of us to understand and appreciate each others roles.

All about a WOMAN ....
* When she is quiet, millions of things are running in her mind.

* When she stares at you, she is wondering why she loves you so much in spite of being taken for granted.

* When she says I will stand by you, she will stand by you like a rock.

Never hurt her or take her wrong or for granted...

Forward to every woman to make her smile and to every man to make him realize a woman's worth.

Is It True That The Maximum Loanable Amount For New Housing Loans Is Just 60% of the Appraised Value?

In October 2014, I read in the news that the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will set a cap on real estate loans at sixty percent (60%) of their collateral values. I did not write about it then as I was not able to research yet on the actual BSP document. I thought of the repercussions of this policy, if true – necessarily, for a person to get a loan, he/she needs to be ready with forty percent (40%) equity (also known as downpayment). Thus, for a person to be able to purchase a P1 million property, he/she needs to have P400,000.00 ready in cash. How many people will NOT be able to purchase a property because of this policy? A lot.

Is the cap for housing loans really 60%?

The Monetary Board approved on October 29, 2014, BSP Circular No. 855 Series of 2014. It embodies the Guidelines on Sound Credit Risk Management Practices. The Media Release on the said circular, which is a little bit easier to understand, can be found here.
