5 Secrets to a Successful Long-Term Relationship or Marriage | Psych Central

5 Secrets to a Successful Long-Term Relationship or Marriage | Psych Central: There have been a thousand or more articles written about how to have a successful long-term relationship or marriage, but none that seem to capture some of the core ingredients I've found important in relationships. So here's the straight dope, from my experience. Before I begin, however, it's important to dispel a common relationship myth -- relationships are (or should be) easy. That is simply not true. The grass always looks greener in other people's lives, because few people share the truth of the amount of work that goes into relationships (hence why 50% of marriages end in divorce). Relationships -- even the best relationships in the world -- require constant attention, nurturing, and work. If you can understand and accept the need for constant attention and work in your relationship, you're started in the right direction. 1. Compromise Relationships are about not only taking, but also giving. If you find yourself not giving very much, or feeling resentful of how much you give

Billionaire Tony Tan Caktiong

When Tony Tan Caktiong looks back at his childhood, he remembers tasting things. His father, a chef in a Buddhist monastery in Manila, would return home to cook for his family, making delicious meals from whatever simple ingredients he could find. “My mother would say I was the most difficult to bring up because I was the choosiest in terms of taste, whereas my brothers would just eat anything,” recalls the third of seven children. “She would say, ‘You are the hardest to satisfy.’ ”
Starting with two Manila ice cream parlors in 1978, Tan has built his Jollibee Foods into one of Asia’s largest home-grown restaurant companies. It boasted 2,581 Jollibees and other fast-food restaurants under various brands as of Sept. 30. Today what he calls Jollibee’s “
flavorful environment” and his Buddhist penchant for simplicity are on full display at outlets from Saudi Arabia to the borough of Queens in New York City. “We keep things simple and fill a simple need: very tasty food at a reasonable price. To this day I repeat to my people what my father told me–you have to make sure your food tastes really good.”
Jollibee’s red-and-white bumblebee logo is a familiar sight in the Philippines, where there are now 2,040 outlets after roughly 120 were added in past three years. It controls 18% of the Metro Manila market, compared with 10% for McDonald’s, according to a report on last year’s third quarter compiled for internal use. That ubiquity has made Tan a billionaire–worth roughly $1.3 billion by FORBES ASIA’s latest estimate. Not bad for a restaurant owner whose wife, Grace, says has never really learned to cook.

Hindi ka na makatulog sa gabi, trying to think how you’ll end up paying off debts that have already piled up.
May I suggest you try doing the following?
MAG-BUDGET
If you already have a budget, para ka na ring may battle plan. Evaluate and reconstruct, if you must. Explore ways to reduce spending and expenses. If possible, find ways to boost your income, then revise your budget accordingly.
Kung kinakailangang mag-cut costs, do it. Make it a priority na makabayad muna ng utang. Isnabin muna ang mga wants at other luho. At kung wala ka pang budget, I suggest you watch the video here: http://moneykit.com.ph.
MAKIPAG-BARGAIN
Tumawad ka to the core. Huwag tayong dedma at lalo, huwag tayong magtago. For instance, P10,000 ang utang mo. Makiusap ka kung pwede itong bawasan to increase your chances of being able to pay it off. Debt settlement, in general, allows you to negotiate with creditors (or collection agencies) to reduce the amount you owe, so you can pay something and get back on your feet.
MAGPA-COUNSEL
Look for a personal finance expert and seek his or her professional counsel.
Let them know kung hanggang kailan mo kayang bayaran ang utang mo.
If there’s utang, you can always find a way to pay off your debt.
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.

The following “utang rules” will allow us to understand how important it is to be true to our word:
HUWAG MANGAKO KUNG ITO’Y MAPAPAKO.
“Sa katapusan, magbabayad ako. Promise.”
“Oo, sigurado na ‘yun. Full payment.”
  • “Naku, sorry.
Kahit ano pa man iyan, the thing is, kapag sinabi nating magbabayad tayo, dapat magbayad tayo.
Mabait kapag nangutang…
Galit kapag siningil…
Hindi porke’t sinisingil na tayo at natiyempuhang wala pa tayong pambayad, it doesn’t give us the right para siraan natin sila. It’s our responsibility na bayaran sila in the first place.
Kung wala pa, talk to them personally and tell them about your situation nang sa gayon, maipaunawa natin sa kanila at hindi na umabot pa sa siraan.
MANGUTANG LANG KAPAG KAILANGAN.
Mangungutang lang kasi:
  • May nakitang bag.
  • Gustong mag-travel.
  • Walang pera pang-gimik.
…these are not valid reasons to borrow money because we can just categorize them as WANTS at hindi needs. Meaning, we can say no to these dahil hindi naman importante ang mga para ipangutang pa.
If this is the case, then sa tuwing may wants tayo, utang lagi ang magiging solusyon natin. Ang resulta? Mabababaon lang tayo sa utang.
So, make sure that your reasons are valid.
