CANADA- Maintenance Worker

Delta Prince Edward [PRI]

Location: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Employment Type: Full Time - Hourly

To work in a team oriented environment with the Engineering Department. Delivery of excellent guest service using Delta’s quality standards and to maximize productivity.

This is a Full Time position and employee will be eligible for health and pension benefits after a waiting period.

Applying a basic level of skill and knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures and Policies which include the following:

Service Delivery

Acts as a lead hand within a small team with low complexity and singular focus.
Plans and organizes operations within own work group.
Performs standard operational activities for internal/external guests.
Activities are guided by established procedures and quality standards.
Provides information regarding own operations area.
Responds to internal/external guest queries based on functional area.
Upon consultation, provides input on process and procedure improvements.
Ensures own activities meet established quality standards.

Managing Relationships

Develops relationships with internal/external guests through the delivery of standard services.
Anticipates and responds to verbal and nonverbal needs of internal/external guests.
May communicate with industry partners and/or external service providers on day-to-day issues, as needed.
Actively participates on internal team meetings and/or projects and cross-functional committees.

Problem Solving

Identifies and independently resolves standard issues, referring to standardized procedures.
Identifies alternative solutions and refers more complex operational issues to senior team members for resolution, providing input as required.
Understands the impact of chosen solution on work processes

Ownership

Exercises independent judgment on standard operational decisions.
Determines courses of action within standardized procedures and processes.
Refers matters that fall outside existing practice standards, procedures and policies to senior team members.

Leading and Developing

Shares enthusiasm for realizing the hotel’s goals, strategies and values.
Provides coaching and guidance to more junior team members.
Seeks performance input from team members to identify own competency gaps and jointly sets a development plan with supervisor.

Working Conditions

physical exertion or sensory effort (e.g., visual or audio) may be required causing fatigue by lifting, carrying and handling objects, extensive standing and walking, bending/stretching, awkward postures, pushing/pulling, dealing with interruptions and distractions beyond one’s control, confinement to work station.
Work environments may result in exposure to dangerous situations or to hazardous substances and environments, disturbing, angry, physically abusive and/or aggressive people, disruptions to lifestyle because of unusual hours or schedules, lack of control over work place due to irregular/high volumes of work and/or multiple/tight deadlines.

Job responsibilities (required- but not limited to the following)

Repair guestroom deficiencies
Change bulbs, repair fixtures
Service heat pumps and air handling units
Service grounds equipment
Fire alarm responses
Painting, vinyling
Snow removal
Plumbing, light electrical, mechanical
Kitchen equipment repairs
Carpentry, furniture repairs
Take turn carrying pager
Overall general building maintenance, mechanical and electrical maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Sand bagging (average 40 – 55 lb. ea.)
Snow removal
Swimming pool care & tests
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must have good knowledge in the field of maintenance and be able to adapt to well to changes in policies and procedures
Must be flexible in working shift work, weekends and holidays
Proven problem solving skills and ability to work well independently
Team Player
Valid drivers license and bondable
