Reproductive health advocates urged Congress on Monday to pass a law allowing "safe and legal abortion" following a report from the New-York-based Center for Reproductive Rights describing a "human rights crisis" of maternal deaths and injuries arising from unsafe abortions in the Philippines. However, pro-life advocates stood pat against any changes on the criminal ban against abortion.
