P-Noy vows to cut red tape and middlemen in doing business

President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on Wednesday vowed that his administration will be known for good governance, the main tool that his government will use to lessen the country’s problems.

In his inaugural speech, Aquino, the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines, said his mandate would be to “transform the government from one that is self-serving to one that works for the welfare of the nation.”

Quality education, infrastructure for transportation, tourism and trade, emergency employment and better collections by the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs were among those mentioned by Aquino as his focus under presidency.

For business, Aquino said that he has directed the government to set up trading centers “that will directly link farmers and consumers thereby eliminating middlemen and opportunities for corruption.”

“We will cut red tape dramatically and implement stable economic policies. We will level the playing field for investors and make government an enabler, not a hindrance to business,” Aquino added.

Earlier, entrepreneurs interviewed by Entrepreneur.com.ph, said they look forward the most to Aquino’s program to stamping out the graft and corruption in the country.

“When corruption is low, more services and infrastructure will trickle down to all of us,” said Alan Escalona of Fruit Magic.
